What is on this site, where it comes from, how it is checked, and what we do not claim.
Who publishes this site
VerbPal is a verb-learning app for ten languages, built and published by Abbika LLC. This website is run by the same small team that makes the app. We are not a university, a publisher, or a language school, and we do not employ a faculty of linguists.
Because the pages here are produced by the team and by our own tooling rather than by an individual writer, articles are credited to VerbPal as an organisation. We would rather say that plainly than invent a byline.
Where each part comes from
Conjugation tables
The tables come from the same verb database that powers the VerbPal app, covering thousands of verbs across Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Ukrainian. Each language's forms are generated from its own conjugation rules and irregular-verb list, not translated from a single source language.
Example sentences and pronunciation guides
Examples are drawn from the app's sentence dataset, which was produced with automated language generation and covers each verb in the tenses this site displays. The pronunciation lines are phonetic respellings written for learners rather than International Phonetic Alphabet notation, because respellings are easier to read aloud if you have not studied phonetics.
Audio
Where a page offers audio, it is synthesised speech produced by a text-to-speech model. It is not a recording of a human speaker, and we do not present it as one. It is there to give you a reference for rhythm and stress. For sounds you intend to reproduce exactly, a native speaker remains the better guide.
Articles and guides
The articles on our blog are written with AI assistance against a topic plan we set, then edited and published by the team. They are reviewed for factual accuracy and for the grammar points they teach before going live. Google's guidance is that how content is made matters less than whether it is genuinely useful, and we agree, which is why we would rather describe our process than hide it.
What we check
- Every page is built and validated automatically before it ships. Pages missing a title, a description, a canonical link or a correct heading structure fail the build.
- Titles and descriptions must be unique across the site, so no two pages compete by claiming to be the same thing.
- Articles are checked for repeated or duplicated passages, and we remove them when our tooling finds them.
- Publication dates reflect when an article actually first went live on this site. Where a page has been substantially revised, we record the revision date separately.
What we do not claim
We do not claim individual academic or teaching credentials for this content, and we do not attribute articles to authors who did not write them. We do not claim our audio is human, or that our example sentences were written by native speakers by hand.
Automated generation at this scale gets things wrong sometimes. A conjugation can be right by rule and still be unnatural in ordinary speech, and a generated example can miss the sense of a verb that carries several meanings. If you find something wrong, we want to hear about it and we will fix it.
